Tariffs, 1868-1914.

Pre-1915 tariffs relate mainly to railroads. 1915 and later tariffs are books provided to the Public Service Commission, by utilities operating in Ala. Tariffs contain the rules, regulations, rates, and operating procedures of each company (each company's "bible"). The Tariff Division maintains tariffs for thirty-five local telephone exchanges, twenty-two long distance resellers, twenty-five radio common carriers, thirteen water companies, four gas companies, and one power company. The RSE Division maintains tariffs for the major power and gas companies, and RSE-Bell keeps the South Central Bell tariff. Each division utilizes these in monitoring utilities. Tariffs are constantly being updated.
